Meet Buddy, the fluffiest helper with the biggest heart, and his owner, MLF Young Professional & Volunteer, Bill Durkan.
Bill and Buddy have been visiting pediatric hospitals in the tristate area for a few years now spreading love and support to the brave children who are receiving their treatments.
Who are Bill & Buddy?
– Bill Durkan is a Certified Therapy Dog team leader (credentialed via The Good Dog Foundation), a Wish Coordinator, Corporate Fundraiser, and Young Professional Committee Member for the Marty Lyons Foundation, as well as a Corporate Fundraiser for the The Good Dog Foundation.
– Buddy the Corgi is a loving therapy dog and Bill’s best friend.
How are they both helping the MLF grant more wishes?
– Bill has authored his first children’s book titled Buddy’s Buddies.
– The star of the book of course is his best friend, Buddy.
– In the book, as in real-life, Buddy puts on his cape and trots into the hospital to bring tail wags, courage, and cuddles to kids who need it most. From giggles in the hallways to snuggles at bedside, Buddy knows that love is the best medicine. A heartwarming story that celebrates kindness, comfort, and the healing power of a four-legged friend.
– Buddy’s Buddies, the children’s book with the goal of making an impact for kids, is off to a great start. Their goal is to help grant a terminally ill child’s wish with proceeds from the book’s sale (our average wish cost is $7,100).
